Three threads, one thing

I'm an accounting student at Western Washington University on the CPA-eligible track, with a minor in economics, currently studying for the Enrolled Agent exams. Before WWU, I studied International Business and Relations at Temple University's Japan campus in Tokyo.

My experience so far spans audit and corporate finance across international markets — M&A research and financial analysis at Hallmark Capital International in Singapore, and ongoing work as a remote external auditor for NEXUS, the student association for the University of Groningen's law school, in the Netherlands.

I've also spent the last several months building Kove, a personal finance platform, where I'm designing a custom tax-collection and compliance system to replace Stripe Tax and writing the technical documentation that keeps the platform usable for non-technical teammates. It's the clearest example of how the accounting and software sides of what I do work together — the accounting background tells me what the system needs to get right, and the software skills let me build it instead of just flagging the problem.

Outside of school and work, I like learning how to build things — I'm teaching myself to design a go-kart, hoping to take a community college welding class so I can actually build it, and tinkering with 3D printing in my free time. I've also done a fair amount of traveling — Singapore, Malaysia, Ecuador, Canada, across Europe, Beijing, and Japan — plus a cross-country road trip last year.

Currently

Studying for the EA exams, working on Kove, and looking for a tax or audit internship for 2027 — based in the Pacific Northwest, but open to relocating.

International Business and Relations

Roles where the mix is the point, not a liability

Roles

  • Public accounting — tax, audit, or consulting at a Big Four or boutique firm
  • Internal accounting or audit functions built inside a company, not a public firm
  • FinTech or corporate finance roles outside the typical tax/audit track
  • International tax, audit, or compliance work that crosses borders
  • Government roles — federal, state, or local, from a state auditor's office to a federal agency

Environment

I adapt quickly and learn fast, equally comfortable on a small, tight-knit team or navigating a larger, more diverse group.

Values

  • Communicate clearly, especially when something's wrong.
  • Document the trail so a mistake can be traced, fixed, and owned.
  • Understand how the automation works before you trust its output.
  • Stay curious — from fraud audits to first-person-view drone builds, there's always something worth learning.
